Attend the AGM of Qumi Homes in Rayton

The meeting is taking place at 16:00 on May 16 .

Qumi Homes is an NPO, situated in Naudé Street in Rayton. It was established in 2007 and it caters for intellectually disabled people in the Rayton and Cullinan area.

It was established as a local initiative in answer to the transformation policy of the Department of Health.

This policy states that all people with special needs should be catered for in their own communities, for their own community, by their own community.

Government, in partnership with the family and the community, therefore, take joint responsibility for the care of persons with special needs, in the case of Qumi Homes, the intellectually disabled.

Qumi Homes provides residence for intellectually disabled persons in five group homes, of which one is on a smallholding, in the Rayton area. With 24-hour supervision, residents take part in the activities of their own homes.

Activities at the daycare centre include arts and crafts, sports days, and outings related to the themes of the day programmes.

The needs of Qumi Homes are diverse and many, which are partially met by government subsidies, family contributions, our generous sponsors and donors, but mostly by the community of Rayton and further afield.

For more information, Qumi Homes can be contacted at 012 734 5242.

The home is holding its AGM on May 16, at 13:00. It will take place in Church Hall at the corner of Plein and Pêrel Street, Rayton.
