50 participants raring to go at Standerton River Park

Theo Schönfeldt reached the finish line in a time of 26:52, followed by Andrew Ainsworth’s 28:33 and Brendan Archer’s 29:39 in his 50th event.

Altogether 50 participants took on the parkrun on September 2, with seven athletes improving their times and four new faces to be seen.

Jennifer Naidoo, run director, did the honours of handling the countdown at 08:00.

Theo Schönfeldt reached the finish line in a time of 26:52, followed by Andrew Ainsworth’s 28:33 and Brendan Archer’s 29:39 in his 50th event.

Nitin Daya recorded 30:39, while Mialieze Smith crossed the finish line in 35:47, a new personal best.

Anton Hall competed in his 50th event and ran a time of 35:47, followed by Biju David’s 36:52, a new personal best.

Jose Joseph improved his scoring and reached the finish line in 38:07, while Elmien Vermaak recorded 38:14.
Danie Human registered 40:27 and a first-timer, Nokuphiwa Mlotshwa 41:27.

Frans Vermaak, Jennifer Naidoo, Johannes Vosloo, Krsihnalal Ramdharee, Lizette Jansen van Rensburg, Lydia Roets, Marjorie Uys, Mialieze Smith, Ruwan Vermaak, Séan Jansen van Rensburg, Sylvy Moodley, Wessel Herbst, Willy Smith and Zeldine Strydom were on their posts to secure a smooth and safe event.

A big event is planned for October 7 when parkrun Standerton commemorates the unsung heroes.

Standerton Hospital reaches a milestone and celebrates its 100th anniversary in October.

Participants are invited to dress up in their favourite hero figure, whether a nurse, doctor, paramedic or firefighter.
