Dignity packs distributed to girls in eMzinoni
Dignity packs were distributed to female learners at Mzinoni Secondary School, Ikhethelo Secondary School, and AD Nkosi MST Academy.
A dignity drive campaign was recently conducted at eMzinoni Secondary School, Ikhethelo Secondary School and AD Nkosi MST Academy, by Rural Economic Transformers (RET) with Bethal Police Social Crime Prevention Unit together with eMzinoni police, the Highveld Ridge Riders and the Sheriff Motorcycle Club.
The purpose of donating and distributing sanitary towels is to improve girls’ menstrual hygiene and health as well as reduce their discomfort during school days.
Two hundred dignity packs for the less fortunate female learners were distributed by the teams during the campaign.
“Most girls are unable to buy sanitary pads and use other means.

“These girls are left uncomfortable and often unhealthy during their menstrual cycle which leads to many of them missing school for a few days each month as they are too uncomfortable or embarrassed to attend, ” said Allen Ndlela, chairperson of Rural Economic Transformers.
Ndlela also stated that even if the girls attend school, they remain distracted and fail to pay attention to their lessons.
Learners were encouraged to focus on their studies for them to be successful in life, by representatives from Highveld Ridge Riders and Sheriff Motorcycle Club.
“Learners were also sensitised about the dangers of using drugs and teenage pregnancy,” said Sergeant Thomas Mogadime, spokesperson for Bethal police.
