CPF voting for Masada

Voting will take place on November 25.

Bronkhorstspruit Sector 1 Community Policing Forum (CPF) is preparing to kick off the Masada Sub Sector CPF.
Notices have been placed in every post box or gate in Masada since October.

The members of Sector 1 CPF manned the entrance of Masada on November 4 to have Masada residents enrol as CPF members.

Voting will take place on November 25 at the Ligkruis Church at 15:00. All residents of Masada who want to join must arrive early to fill in membership forms, as you can only vote once you are a member.

Members must take nomination forms to nominate those they identify at the meeting with whom they would like to lead the CPF activities in Masada.

Posts to be voted for include chairperson, deputy chair, secretary, deputy secretary, public relations (PR) and treasurer.

These forms must be handed in when the meeting starts after an election will take place by show of hands.

The functions of the CPF are to;

  • Establish, promote and maintain public participation and private partnership between the community and the police in the fight against crime;
  • Promote effective communication and cooperation between the police and the community in fulfilment of policing needs;
  • Oversight with the police;
  • Proactive approach to the risk of crime and taking action to protect their property and that of their neighbours such actions may include marking property, reporting suspected activities and improving home security which reduces opportunities for crime and increases the risk of detection.

They will be serving as the ‘eyes and ears’ of the SAPS by identifying and reporting suspicious behaviour, persons or activities and crime in the policing precinct to the SAPS and encourage community networks to support the identification and exposure of criminals and criminal activities in the community.

Members of the CPF enjoy the benefits of daily staying updated with incidents and threats and access to support, meetings updating you about threats, support under any circumstance, liaison with JVR, the police and metro police, having people with specialist capabilities amongst them, having patrols day and night (each member one patrol a month), immediate reaction after contact has been made and is no monthly membership fee.

The police would be grateful for all those willing to join and strengthen their hand.
