Join meeting with neighbourhood watch in Cullinan
A Blitz and Patrol meeting will be held from 17:00 to 20:00 at the Cullinan Sports Centre on February 2.

The Cullinan neighbourhood watch will have a Blitz and Patrol meeting on February 2 from 17:00 to 20:00 at the Cullinan Sports Centre.
They invite everyone to join the neighbourhood watch team for a meet and greet. After the meeting, the patrolling group will paint Cullinan green with patrol lights from 20:00 to 05:00.
Neighbourhood watches are one of the most effective ways for neighbourhoods to reduce crime in their areas.
They also help protect properties and reduce vehicle break-ins and burglaries. They serve as community-based crime prevention entities.
“Some residents were robbed of their valuables in the view of neighbours without any intervention or attempt to assist,” said Constable Connie Moganedi from Cullinan SAPS corporate communication.
A neighbourhood watch, established with the police’s help, usually involves residents who care for each other with a willingness to actively participate in keeping their neighbourhoods clear of crime.
“It carries out activities such as reporting suspicious activity and improving personal and home security,” Moganedi added.
Therefore, the Cullinan SAPS urges residents to watch over each other’s property and personal safety. By doing so, residents keep up the spirit of ubuntu (humanity) without committing vigilantism or endangering their lives.
The Cullinan SAPS also wants to give residents a few easy and general safety tips.

“Be your neighbours’ keeper. Be of assistance whenever a neighbour calls for help, especially during a criminal incident.”
The Cullinan SAPS further urged residents to report suspicious vehicles or movements in their immediate areas or at a neighbour’s house.
“Be a whistleblower when witnessing crime happen in your presence or at a neighbour’s place,” Moganedi concluded.
