Graceland’s Joyce and Zithulele celebrate a combined 50 years of service
Graceland’s supervisor Joyce Motaung and chef Zithulele Mthembu were congratulated for 25 years of service each.
Loyalty, hard work and a passion for the entertainment and catering industries are what it took for Joyce Motaung and Zithulele Mthembu, who both celebrate 25 years of service each at Peermont’s Graceland Hotel, Casino and Country Club.
Supervisor Motaung and chef Mthembu made history when Graceland, SA’s first legal casino, opened its doors to the public in 1996.
Although the entertainment industry is a high-pressure environment, the leadership and public who come through Graceland’s doors motivate Motaung and Mthembu to keep going.
Mthembu began his career in the catering industry as a casual at Graceland and worked his way up to where he is today.
“As a person who loves his job, I survive easily. I count on the fact that I love my work despite its pressured environment,” said Mthembu.
Motaung began as a booth cashier and worked up to a supervisory role through the years.
“Effective communication and dedication are what has made me who I am today. We are role models for the newer generation,” said Motaung.
