Bethal court denies bail for alleged rapist
The man, facing charges of raping his daughter (13), is due back in the Bethal Magistrate’s Court on March 27 after his bail was denied.

The Bethal Magistrate’s Court denied bail for a 42-year-old man who appeared on February 13. The man faces charges of raping his daughter (13).
The case is now pending further investigation, and the man is due back in the same court on March 27.
His arrest came after the investigating team, comprising sergeants Mzwandile Nkambule and Bheki Maphanga and Constable Esther Malaza from the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit in Secunda, received a rape case reported and registered with the Bethal SAPS.
The victim had stayed with her father and brother since January 2023. The rape allegedly happened in September while the victim was asleep in her room.
A test on January 4 confirmed the girl was pregnant. The father allegedly threatened to kill the victim should she tell anyone about the pregnancy.
The victim’s stepmother asked her about the pregnancy, and the victim told her everything.
The victim and her stepmother went to KwaZulu-Natal to personally inform the girl’s biological mother about her condition.
The two women and the girl returned to Bethal and reported the incident to the police.
