Operation Witbank illicit mining sees three arrested in the Bronkhorstspruit area
Three suspects were arrested for unlicenced firearms.

Combat team members and Vispol, together with their tactical commander from Operation Witbank illicit mining, arrested a 28-year-old in Bronkhorstspruit on February 23 for possession of unlicensed firearms, ammunition, suspected stolen property and drugs.
The police spokesperson for Bronkhorstspruit, Constable Munyadziwa Cathrine Ramovha, said, “The team was busy with Operation Witbank illicit mining when they received a tip-off from someone anonymous.”
The police arrived at the identified house in Rethabiseng in the Bronkhorstspruit policing precinct at about 03:30.
“They conducted a search and found firearms and rounds of ammunition with a magazine, drugs, suspected stolen cellphones, six charger heads, five cable chargers and a charger, SIM cards, a computer box and a drone,” said Ramovha.
They furthermore received information about an address in the Ekangala policing precinct. There, the police found three firearms, 48 rounds of ammunition, 10 damaged ammunition, two bags and a pair of gloves.
The police seized everything and arrested another two people (ages 30 and 34) at the Ekangala SAPS.
“Cases were registered at both precincts,“ said Ramovha.
The suspects will soon appear in Bronkhorstspruit and Ekangala Magistrate’s courts.
