Council in Standerton elects new speaker

“I promise to execute duties of this office with diligence, professionalism and dedicate myself to the office.”

Lekwa’s municipal council elected Sipho Majozi as the speaker during the special council meeting on March 26.

According to the communications department, his election follows the replacement of Oliver Phiri.

The newly sworn councillor is Nrateng Selepe.

Welcoming his election, Majozi thanked the council for entrusting him with this enormous responsibility.

“Even though we can have differences politically, the main goal is to serve this community,” Majozi said.

“We can differ ideologically or in any other way, but let’s not forget the reason why we are here. Let us not forget the people who voted for us to be here. What should drive and guide us are the needs of residents of Lekwa.”

He added that they are all aware that Lekwa has been deprived of stability and service delivery for the longest time, but pleaded that they continue to be the change that Lekwa so desperately needed.

According to him, there is still a lot that needs to be done.

“I promise to execute duties of this office with diligence, and professionalism and dedicate myself to the office.”
