Charity foundation distributes sanitary products to girls in Bethal

The Indawo Yosizo Foundation handed sanitary pads to young girls and women at five different schools in eMzinoni on April 17.

Over 500 sanitary towels were distributed to five different schools. This was thanks to a drive held by Indawo Yosizo Foundation.

The foundation distributed sanitary products to assist girls and young women at iKhwezi Primary School, Mbekezelo Primary School, Mzinoni High School, Langelihle Primary School and Ikhethelo High School.

Zanele Gwebu, the founder of the NPO, said, “We are faced with circumstances where the dignity of those who are underprivileged is under attack.

“In attempts to dismantle the attack we aim to create a culture of protecting the dignity of young women and all other marginalised groups.”

She said that fighting period poverty doesn’t just mean making sure that everyone who needs a sanitary product gets one, it is also fighting against stigmas and circumstances that have caused it.

“The first step in restoring one’s dignity is getting them to realise their worth,” said Gwebu.

The drive was supported by Enpower Machite JV, Benza Solutions, Philasande NGO, Thomas Heights and PSASA.
