Young players sharpen hockey skills in Evander

Young hockey players sharpened their skills over three days at a holiday clinic held at TP Stratten Primary School, preparing for the upcoming season.

Young hockey players sharpened their skills during the school holidays with the Coachero Sport hockey clinic.

The clinic ran over three days at TP Stratten Primary School, with 50 children from Ermelo, Secunda, Evander and eMbalenhle participating.

Coach Marcus Mdlalose said the clinic aimed to keep the children busy during the school holidays and help improve their hockey skills.

“Such clinics prepare the children for the upcoming hockey season in the third term,” said Mdlalose.

The coaches showed the children how to hold a stick, dribble the ball, pass and receive, space and mark, how to present themselves on and off the field, and, of course, the rules of the game.

Although the clinic was for junior school learners only, Coachero Sport hopes the opportunity to coach high school learners becomes available.

“Sport is SA’s love language. Let’s heal our country through sports,” said Mdlalose.

He thanked all sponsors who made the clinic a success. Coachero Sport hope to host a soccer clinic during the September holidays. More details will be available closer to the time.
