WATCH: Storm hits Evander and Secunda

Heavy wind blows roof off from Evander carport.

A heavy storm hit Secunda, Evander, Trichardt and surrounding areas earlier today (January 1) and caused damage.

Heavy winds caused a trees in Cambridge Street and Tasmania Street in Evander to uproot and fall over, a roof was blown off a house in Wilton Nkwayi Moloi Street in Evander and pallisades in Toulouse Street fell over.

Residents had to help to remove a tree that fell between Munchen Street and Oxford Street in Evander and obstructed the road.

A Trichardt resident said it looked as if the wind was blowing from different directions and she has never seen such a storm.
