Rhinos beat Tuskers in CSA women’s provincial T20 match played in Secunda
The Cricket South Africa women's provincial one-day division two game, played on February 21, was stopped due to lightning, preventing further play.
Sasol Recreational Club’s cricket pitches were abuzz with the Cricket South Africa (CSA) women’s provincial one-day division two and provincial T20 division two matches played on February 21 and 22.
Mpumalanga Rhinos Women hosted KZN Inland (Tuskers Women). In the one-day division two game, played on February 21, Tuskers won the toss and elected to field first.
Rhinos posted 245/ 8 in 50 overs. Rhinos captain Ashley Barnard scored 158 runs off 172 balls. The second wicket partnership between Barnard and Lalique Broxham secured 97 runs off 118 balls.
The fourth wicket partnership between Barnard and vice-captain Hope Mpashi made 107 runs off 125 balls. Tuskers were on 35/2 after 7.4 overs, with Omphile Mandi the pick of the bowlers, achieving figures of two overs, 15 runs, and two wickets.
The match was stopped due to lightning, preventing further play. Teams competed in the T20 division two match on February 22.
Tuskers won the toss and elected to field.
Rhinos posted 114/6 in 20 overs. Barnard was again the top scorer with 66 runs off 52 balls. The 14-year-old Renske Jansen scored 23 of 36 balls not out.
Their partnership added 90 runs from 83 balls. Tuskers were restricted to 103/5 in their 20 overs. Habeebah Shaik was their top scorer on 32 from 45 balls.
Her partnership with Hannah Warner accumulated 51 runs from 62 balls for their second-wicket partnership. Rhinos won by 11 runs.
