Secunda singer Crissie Heins releases debut solo single
Secunda singer-songwriter Chané Kotzé has released her debut solo single, Plaasjapie (My Liefste Baby).
Local singer-songwriter Crissie Heins (Chané Kotzé) has taken the next step in her musical journey with the release of her debut solo single,Plaasjapie (My Liefste Baby), a heartfelt song inspired by her husband and the life they share.
The single was released at the end of May and marks a new chapter for Heins, who says she is finally embracing the opportunity to be herself without worrying about the opinions of others.
“We are so hooked on doing things right that we never end up doing it. That’s why I’m so proud that I finally released this single,” said Heins.
She believes she has reached a point in her life where authenticity matters more than trying to fit into industry expectations.
“I am just being me at this stage of my life. This is my time; otherwise I would never have done it,” said Heins.
She wrote Plaasjapie (My Liefste Baby) herself, describing it as a reflection of who she is and the direction she wants to take as an artist.
“I am more of a storyteller than a concert performer. I want the audience to relate to the song,” said Heins.
Although the single is her first official solo release, songwriting has been part of her life since she was 11 years old.
Heins is no stranger to local audiences. She performs with her family band, OMGekeerdes, alongside her husband, Hein, and her mother, Penny.

She says her 13-year-old daughter Hané is also showing an interest in joining the group in the near future.
The inspiration behind Plaasjapie (My Liefste Baby) came from the couple’s life together and their shared experiences.
Launching the single was not without challenges, particularly in a competitive music industry, but Heins and her family chose to do everything independently.
Plaasjapie (My Liefste Baby) is available on major streaming platforms, including YouTube and Spotify.
“It is unbelievable to know people are listening, not just me and my family,” said Heins.
