A resident of Okavango Street in Secunda, Lucia Masinga, shared what she described as an unusual and fascinating experience with the Ridge Times.

Masinga said she was working in her garden on July 18 when she noticed a few bees at the wall of her house.

“At first, there were only a handful of bees, but by the next day, their numbers had increased significantly,” said Masinga.

By the afternoon on July 19, she heard a loud buzzing sound and saw what looked like a dark cloud moving through the sky and she noticed the massive swarm of bees.

“They were all flying together in one direction and then landed on the wall of my house.

“They clustered there quietly for about an hour and then their numbers seemed to gradually decrease until they were all gone.”

Masinga described it as an incredible yet scary experience to witness but said they bees did not seem to be aggressive.

She wants to warn residents of this massive swarm of bees who might be moving around elsewhere in Secunda now.
