eMzinoni mother of triplets appeals for community support
Nomsa Hlatshwayo was caught off guard with the arrival of three girls instead of one baby.
A 33-year-old unemployed mother from eMzinoni is appealing to the community for assistance after giving birth to triplet girls in May.
Nomsa Hlatshwayo said she is struggling to provide essential items such as nappies, baby formula and other necessities needed to care for her three infants.
According to Hlatshwayo, her family was surprised when they learned she was expecting triplets, as there is no history of triplet births in the family.
“No one believed it at first because we don’t have a history of anyone giving birth to triplets. I am the first in my family,” she said.
Hlatshwayo said she had to give birth earlier than expected because of health complications.
“Despite everything, it was the happiest moment of my life when I finally held my three little girls in my arms. Even the doctors who helped deliver my babies at Ermelo Hospital were overjoyed,” she said.
As a single mother, Hlatshwayo said she is determined to provide a better future for her daughters but is currently unemployed and facing financial difficulties.
“I pray every day for a job so that I can support my children and give them a brighter future. My family is helping where they can, but their support is limited,” she said.
She is appealing to community members, businesses and organisations willing to assist with nappies, clothing, baby formula, toiletries or any other baby essentials.
She also welcomes employment opportunities that would enable her to support her daughters independently.
