Seniors in Secunda enjoy photo challenge at August meeting

Dra Mekaar members returned to their monthly meetings with a morning of laughter, fellowship and friendly competition.

Dra Mekaar members enjoyed a fun-filled return to their monthly meetings, kicking off the second half of the year with laughter, fellowship and socialising.

Members gathered at the NG Kerk Goedehoop Gemeente on August 5, where Ds Diederich Kleynhans opened the morning with scripture reading and prayer.

The highlight of the meeting was a light-hearted activity in which members submitted photographs of themselves from their younger years.

They were divided into groups and tasked with matching the photographs to the correct names. The challenge proved more difficult than expected, as many members have changed considerably over the years.

Prizes were awarded to the winning tables. Afterwards, members enjoyed a meal together and caught up with one another.

Birthday wishes for August were extended to Gerhard Booysen, Nicolene Bloem, Kleintjie Steyn, Deon Fourie and Dottie Elsden.

A warm welcome was also extended to new member Trudie Botes. Members were reminded about the annual holiday to De Voetpadkloof taking place in October.

All payments must be made by the end of August to secure a place. The next meeting will be held on August 19 at the NG Kerk Goedehoop Gemeente and will feature a sing-along with André Jonker.

Members are still welcome to volunteer their services to help make pancakes for the church bazaar on August 28.

There have also been changes to the remainder of the year’s meeting programme. For more information, members can contact chairperson Eileen Bezuidenhout on 082 467 5307.
