Merry Christmas

We dare not fail and we will not fail.

This year will go down as the year of mourning for all South Africans as we continue to mourn the departure of our founding father President Nelson Rholihlahla Mandela.

As the leadership of this municipality, we are calling on our people to continue to pay their respects to the great Madiba and in doing so, keep his memory alive.

Our country has been blessed to have produced a leader of Madiba’s caliber and we are thankful to the Almighty for this precious gift.

As we bid this year farewell, I would like to appeal to everyone to play a positive role in all endeavours aimed at making the Govan Mbeki Municipality a world-class municipality, a model city and centre of excellence.

We all have to contribute in the betterment of our people’s lives through positive public participation.

Therefore, it is crucial that we play this role with diligence, commitment, zeal and vigour.

The people in our communities depend on all of us as leaders to intensify service delivery with a view of defeating the challenges of unemployment, poverty and inequality.

We dare not fail and we will not fail.

In conclusion, please allow me to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a rewarding and prosperous new year.

Do not drink and drive, arrive alive and promote road safety.
