154 golfers tee off to raise funds for Hendrico
Round Table hosted a golf day at Walker Park Golf Club to raise funds for Henrico Ackerman’s cochlear implant.
EVANDER – The Round Table of Secunda hosted a golf day on Saturday, 5 April at Walker Park Golf Club.
The day was held to raise money for Hendrico Ackerman’s cochlear implant.
Hendrico (6), is in need of the implant which costs around R340 000 per implant per ear.
Currently Hendrico has got only 10 per cent hearing and this surgically implanted electronic device will help him to gain about 70 per cent.
The Foundation for Children with a Hearing Loss in South Africa has been helping him to raise funds for the operation.
“Sponsors on the day helped to raise money as well as the players on the betting holes and the day was a huge success.
“Although the final figures are not available yet, we will be able to help give money towards the operation,” said Mr Neville Kotze, Round Table chairman.
“We thank everyone who supported the day in aid to change young Hendrico’s life.”
A total of 154 golf players took part.
Nick Jonck won the day by scoring 44 points.
Daniel Nyathela came in second with 42 points while Willem Uys and Cliff Snyman scored 41 points.
