KINROSS – The IFBB Mpumalanga Novice show took place at the Kinross Sasol Community Hall on Saturday, 19 April.
With a total of six judges and one trial judge, the athletes were tallied up on their muscles, poses and over all appearance on the stage.
Though judging was tough, Mark Whelan from Middelburg took three trophies, namely the junior men U/23, the men’s open line up under 75kg and the over all winner of the IFBB Mpumalanga Novice Championships.
A total of 29 contestants competed in the IFBB Mpumalanga Novice show of which 27 were men and two were women.
Wayne Price, IFBB president of South Africa, thanked Umuzi Lodge for sponsoring the accommodation for all the judges.

The junior men U/23 winners were Mark Whelan (first), Gilbert Mbulane (second) and Funwayo Nhlapo (third).
The winner of the women’s fitness bikini was Novice was Karien van der Wal.
The winner of the women’s body fitness was Novice was Hendryette Marais.
|Karien van der Wal also won the women’s fitness bikini open line up.
In the men’s body building up to 70kg (novice) Sibusiso Nkosi came first, Vusamani Ntchaweneng second and Lucky Ntshali third.
The winners of the men’s body building up to 80kg (novice) were Jean-Pierre van der Westhuizen (first), Frans Kwenaite (second) and Jabu Zwane (third).
Niel de Villiers won the men’s body building over 80kg (novice), Sam Matitwana came second and Phumalane Nkosi came third.
The men’s open line up under 75kg winners were Mark Whelan (first), Gilbert Ndubane (second) and Juan Pierre van der Westhuizen (third).
The winners of the men’s open line up over 75kg were Niel de Villiers (first), Jaco de Villiers (second)and Phumulane Nkosi (third).
