Development leagues underway

Association encourages clubs to play in all divisions.

eMBALENHLE – The Local Football Association’s U/13 and U/15 Development League is running smoothly in the area.

Altogether 12 clubs are taking part in the U/13 league and 18 clubs in the U/15 division league.

The league is aimed at developing the boys into professional soccer players and to have them playing for big clubs in the future.

It is also in line with the South African Football Association’s U/13 and U/15 nationwide league programme.

Club owners are encouraged to take the development league matches serious as this will help in the selection of players for the senior league divisions.

Some of the clubs that have clubs in all the junior divisions in the SAB Regional League are Sasol Juventus FC, West United FC and Remember Academy.

Mr Benjamin Skhonde, coach of Remember, said junior divisions prepare the skills of young soccer players at grassroots level.

His U/15 players beat Bayern Munich FC 4 – 0 on the eHlazweni Ground on Saturday, 24 May.
