eMbalenhle soccer club uplifts girls
Girls of all ages are welcome to take part in the club eMbalenhle Ladies FC.
eMBALENHLE – Mr Daliwonga Luvalo (28) wants to develop upcoming women soccer players.
He began eMbalenhle Ladies FC last year and said this has created a platform for younger players to achieve their ambitions.
“I established the soccer club in the hope to bring a positive change within the community, especially among young people.”
Girls of all ages are welcome to take part in the club.
“Soccer is not only a man’s game, but girls and women can also take part,” said Mr Luvalo.
He said through this club, he aims to prevent teenage pregnancy and teach the girls to take pride in their lives.
“Playing soccer has its challenges, but it is rewarding.
“It boosts your confidence and you learn to become a team player,” Mr Luvalo said.
According to him, many parents had their doubts about their daughters playing soccer, they had seen the good fruits it had delivered.
The club has taken part in various women soccer tournaments.
Mr Luvalo said they are relying on charity to make the club a success.
“We are in dire need of equipment and gear.
“We hope that people would see the positive potential the club has in the community and get involved in achieving success.”
The club holds practice sessions at the soccer ground at Tsalanang Residential Complex on weekdays in the afternoons.
