Stars lose against Phiva

eMBALENHLE – Secunda Stars FC lost 2 – 4 against Phiva Young Stars FC in a soccer match during the Safa Second Division League, formerly known as the Vodacom Promotional League, at the Risko Fakude Stadium on Saturday, 31 May.

This was thanks to a brace from Mfanafuthi Ncala and goals from Mziwakuthula Zimu and Bheki Mabaso.

Zane Mahlangu and Sandile Shabalala scored for Stars.

The pressure was on Phiva to walk away with maximum points to claim their top status.

The club will play their last match of the season against Barberton City Stars FC at the Driekoppies Stadium and Stars will play against Amazayoni FC at the Witbank Correctional Centre on 7 June.

The division is contested by 17 clubs in Mpumalanga.

The winner of each provincial league qualifies for the annual Safa Second Division League National play-offs where the winners of two streams, made up of four and five clubs respectively, qualify automatically for the National First Division.

Winners from the SAB Regional League qualify for promotion to the Safa Second Division League after a series of play-offs.
