For the 32 brave golfers who accepted the challenge by the club’s Director of Golf, Andrê Nel, scores definitely did not matter and, along with the language used, will remain secret.

Pin-placings on the edge of the greens, teeing off from an unstable float called the Goldrush Titanic on a water hazard, teeing off with a cricket bat, having to hit a tee shot through a hole in a shade net, using a giant catapult to tee off, putting with a “broken putter” or a block of wood, were just some of the obstacles the golfers had to contend with.

For the record (best forgotten) Willie Horn was announced the winner, with Nico Lombard in second place, Oros van der Walt in third place and A. Arnoldi fourth.

Golfers are reminded of the EARS Golf Day this coming Saturday. The format is a two-ball, better ball competition and funds raised will go towards assisting EARS in caring for abandoned and neglected animals.

Club members are also reminded of the Annual General Meeting that will be held on Wednesday 10 September at 18:00.
