Young eMba wrestler wins bronze
Thapelo Mokhabela is an inpiration to his eMbalenhle wrestling team mates.
eMBALENHLE – Thapelo Mokhabela (15) won a bronze medal at the President Wrestling Championship in Tshwane recently.
This young wrestler was competing with 14 junior wrestlers in the U/33kg category.
He fought four fights and won three and lost one.
His win followed another victory when he won a gold medal last year at the Soputh African Games.
Thapelo’s coach, Mr Lucas Ngwenya, said Thapelo’s future looks bright and that he is a motivation to all young wrestlers in the area.
“I am happy, because he is becoming a pro in the game.
“I believe that this young man will be a star one day.”
Thapelo said he is excited, because he is growing in the sport and his win is a motivation to his team mates.
His biggest dream is that more wrestlers from his team reach his level.
“It is not nice going alone to competitions, I want my team mates to join me because if we are all strong, we will be able to win more.”
He thanked his couch for being strict, as well as his parents for giving him all their support.
Thapelo is a Grade 12 pupil at Kiriyatwane Secondary School and aspires to become a doctor.
“Every day before I go the gym, I make sure that I have done all my home work.
“School and wrestling are my top priorities.”
He said the sport taught him determination and focus.
