KINROSS – Chief Albert Luthuli beat Thembisile Hani Municipality 6-4 at the finals of the Provincial Municipal Soccer Games recently.
Both teams had a shot at a goal in the first 10 minutes, but failed to score.
Ndulula Mtshweni scored the first goal for Thembisile Hani.
During the second half, Andile Vilane scored a goal for Chief Albert Luthuli.
Ndulula Mtshweni came back with full force, scoring the second goal for Thembisile Hani Municipality.
Mtshweni got a red card and Chief Albert Luthuli was awarded a free kick and scored their second goal to equalise.
Chief Albert Luthuli did well during the penalty shootout and won the game 6-4.
Chief Albert Luthuli’s coach, Mr Mandla Bothma, said he was pleased with the match, although some players did not show discipline.
“I must say I was very happy to see the municipal manager of Thembisile Hani, Mr Oscar Nkosi, on the field and wish to see other municipal managers playing as well, even if they are only present to watch their teams play,” said Mr Bothma.
Thembisile Hani’s coach, Mr Bangani Mtshweni, said the match went well but he had a problem with the referee.
“I was disappointed to see that some referees did not take these games serious, but we will complain to the provincial structure.”
Mr Nkosi was asked to comment on the behaviour of his team mates who wanted to attack the referee after the match.
He responded by saying that in every match there are people who get angry when they lose, but it does not mean they are bad people.
“They were angry because they lost, but we managed to cool them down,” said Mr Nkosi.
