Siyabonga has a cricket talent
Bethal Bears Cricket player will attend Khaya Majola National week.
BETHAL – Siyabonga Mtsweni (18) was recently chosen as the captain of the Mpumalanga U/19 Coke cricket team that will compete in the Khaya Majola National Week in East London from 16 to 21 December.
He began playing cricket at the age of 11.
“At that time I was in Laerskool H.M. Swart and was selected for multiple Mpumalanga cricket teams,” he said.
He said his coach, Mr Charles Pentz, at Laerskool H.M. Swart and later at Hoërskool Hoogenhout must get all the credit.
“He developed and supported me.”
Siyabonga was also the captain of the first cricket team at Hoërskool Hoogenhout and the Bethal Bears Cricket Club.
According to Mr Neil Parsons, his leadership skills have always shone through.
When asked how he felt about being named the captain of the Mpumalanga U/19 side, he said it is a huge honour to lead a side with so much talent.
“ I am excited to fullfil this responsibility to the best of my ability, and I would like to thank the Lord for giving me the gift to play cricket.”
AB de Villiers of the Proteas cricket team is his hero and he loves to watch live cricket.
In his spare time, Siyabonga spends time with friends and families.
He has already been selected for two matches for the Mpumalanga Senior Provincial side and has shown that he will become a regular team member.
