Athletes excel at Sasol Athletics Championship
The Sasol Athletics Championship’s main goal was to motivate the athletes for the season ahead.
SECUNDA – The Sasol Athletics Championship took place on Saturday, 14 January at the Secunda Stadium.
The aim was mainly for primary and high school athletes to get some practice for the coming season.
The Top 10 boys were:
– Jacques Bosch achieved 960 Absa points for winning the 60m sprint for BU/9.
– Hernu van Vuuren got 877 Absa points after winning the U/19 javelin event.
– Eshle Ndlovu obtained 855 Absa points after finishing second in the 60m sprint for BU/9.
– Jody Schambreel got 849 Absa points for winning the 150m hurdles for BU/12.
– Sammy Poni got 811 Absa points for winning the long jump for BU/19.
– Damlan Losper achived 809 Absa points after winning the 200m sprint for under BU17.
– Tiaan du Preez got 802 Absa points after winning the 110m hurdles for BU17.
– Damlan Losper got 801 Absa points for winning the 100m sprint for BU/17 as well.
The Top 10 girls were:
– Antoinette van der Merwe got 952 Absa points after winning the 100m hurdles for GU/16.
– Lolla Mokoena achieved 901 Absa points after finishing second in the 100m hurdles for GU/16.
– Jeanette Louw got 885 Absa points after winning the 90m hurdles for GU/15.
– Inge van der Merwe obtained 879 Absa points after winning the 100m hurdles for GU/19.
– Marjohandi Wilken got 863 Absa points after winning the shot put for GU/12.
– Danica Strydom got 857 Absa points after finishing third in the 100m hurdles for GU/16.
– Kayla Hurter got 857 Absa points after winning the shot put for GU/11.
– Christina van der Merwe got 855 Absa points after finishing second in the 90m hurdles for GU/15.
– Mariska Jonker got 848 Absa points after winning the 100m sprint for GU/15.
– Kyleigh van der Walt got 846 Absa points after finishing second in the GU/11 shot put.
