Zazi makes Funda Nathi proud

Mr Maseko hopes that one day they will be able to have a venue of their own.

KINROSS – Sinakhokonke (Zazi) Nhlengethwa took part in the Gert Sibande Chess Tournament and scooped up position three.

Zazi is a member of Funda Nathi Chess Club in Afhanistan outside Kinross.

Funda Nathi members used to play chess on the street near the Ext 25 municipal yard a year ago.

Because they do not have a venue, they are currently housed by the Waquancha Outlet in Ext 25 for two months after which they will have to find another venue.

Mr Richard Maseko, founder of Funda Nathi, said the club has learners from Kinross Primary School and their members are from five years old.

He added the response from the community is promising, because they received more chess boards as donations.

Mr Maseko hopes they will have a venue of their own soon.

He urged the community to adopt a child and sponsor the transport and other needs of the non-affording children.

To sponsor a Funda Nathi child or help with donations, contact Mr Maseko at 073 669 1209 or follow them on Facebook.
