Secunda Cue Sport is number 1 in Mpumalanga

SECUNDA – Two local pool clubs excelled at a Mpumalanga Cue Sport (MPCS) cue sports event on 11 and 12 March.
It was the first time in South Africa that MPCS has hosted an event with six different cue sport disciplines over one weekend, with nearly 60 players battling it out in their respective disciplines.
The event was held at Sleepers Rest in Ermelo.
Hendry Erasmus, president of MPCS, opened the event and said it will become an annual event.
A similar event, the MPCS Winter Cup, will be hosted later this year.
Local pool clubs, Marco’s Pool Club and Memories Pool Club, attended the event.
Marco’s Pool Club’s men took the first ever Summer Cup.
This club’s women came second in the women’s category and Memories Pool Club’s women fourth.
The top men performers in each discipline were:
* World Rules: Piet Skosana from Sleepers in Ermelo.
* Snooker: Jacobus le Roux from Marco’s in Secunda.
* Chinese 8ball: Thabo Taljaard from Marco’s in Secunda.
* 8 Ball: Charles Wahlstrand from Marco’s in Secunda.
* 9 Ball: Marco Bender (Snr) from Marco’s in Secunda.
* Blackball: Hendry Erasmus from Marco’s in Secunda.
The top women performers in each discipline were:
* World Rules: Anna-Marie Greyling from Gringo’s in Hendrina.
* Blackball: Nadene Peens from Marco’s in Secunda.
* 9ball: Tanya Roarty from Memories in Secunda.
The player of the tournament was Hendry Erasmus with his result in the Blackball event.
He played 19 games, won 18, lost one and had four breaks and finishes.
The South African Women’s Championship is from 31 March to 2 April and the men’s championship from 7 to 9 April.
