eMba Rugby Club and Carolina are victorious

The weekend saw some stunning rugby from eMba Rugby Club who defeated Carolina in a home game and who hosted a further match between Matla and Carolina.

eMbalenhle Rugby Club’s first team played against the second team from Carolina on Saturday, 17 June at the Sasol Recreation Club in eMbalenhle.

The home team pulled out all the stops and beat the visitors decisively with a final score of 42-0.

eMba scored seven tries with Skhumba Kubheka, Tshidiso Motloung, Thabiso Tsotetsi, Sifiso Ngwenya, Falake Phakade and Thabo Moge each scoring a try.

Motloung also added to his team’s victory by converting all six of the tries and was named the man of the match.

Carolina’s first team played against Matla 1 and Carolina had scored 12 points at half time, while Matla had been unable to put any points on the scoreboard.

In the end Carolina won with a final score of 27-7.

Wicus Lombaard, Aubrey Latsky and Jean Jacques Theron each scored a try, with Thabo Mtsweni not only scoring two tries, but also converting one try for his team.

Abel Bosakwe, who scored Matla’s only points with a try and a conversion, was named the man of the match for his team.

Dylan Delport and Aubrey Latsky were named the men of the match for Carolina.

eMba Rugby Club will have one week off, but will return to the field on Saturday, 1 July for a home game.
