Karen claims gold and silver at IFBB Bodybuilding Sunfest

The love for the sport came when Gräbe was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, lupus and rheumatoid arthritis nine years ago and turned to the gym and healthy eating as a form of relief.

Bikini Fitness athlete, Karen Gräbe (40) claimed a gold and a silver medal at the IFBB Body Building Sunfest that was held in Durban on December 4, 2021.

In doing so, she qualified to compete in the Arnold Classic Africa 2022.

This was one of five competitions in which Karen competed throughout 2021 and she has been perfecting her struts every time.

“My goal last year was to obtain my provincial colours,” said Gräbe.

She competed in August in the IFBB Mpumalanga Provincial Championship and obtained two second place spots in her category Bikini Fitness.

She claimed her provincial colours and was placed in the top 10 for the SA masters over 40 years in the SA National Championship.

When competing in the Sunfest in Witbank on November 13, she again clinched gold and silver, and also qualified for the Arnold Classic Africa that took place that same month.

The love for the sport came when Gräbe was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, lupus and rheumatoid arthritis nine years ago and turned to the gym and healthy eating as a form of relief.

“The exercise helps a lot with my joint pains and stiffness of the muscles.

“This was the first year I really went in competitively and I coached myself. Previous years was only to keep in shape,” said Gräbe.

She has seen tremendous growth, not only as an athlete, but also in herself.

Prepping and cooking of her diet is done by her husband Theo.

Gräbe is the owner AlphaFemme Health and Fitness and helps women with their transformations.

“I help women who don’t know where to begin when transforming their bodies. You will be amazed by the results within four weeks,” said Gräbe.

She said that there is no “quick fix” to losing weight and getting fit.

The only way is through healthy eating and exercising.

Gräbe has already set herself a goal for the new year to compete in the BBSA National Championships.

A bikini is quite expensive and costs accumulate when it comes to the entry fee, travelling, prepping hair, nails and the other necessities.

Thus Gräbe welcomes anyone on board who wishes to sponsor her.
