Prinsloo and Vermeulen win Round 1 of WOMZA Championship Rally at Bronkhorstspruit

Round 2 of the WRC Championship, namely the Lowveld Rally, will take place in the White River area on the weekend of April 1 and 2.

Round 1 of the 2022 WOMZA Rally Championship, namely the Autobar Fitment Centre 150 Rally, took place this past Saturday, February 26 in the Bronkhorstspruit area on the Hans van Rensburg and Charles le Maitre farms.

A total of 26 teams from across the country entered the race.

A huge rain storm hit the area the previous night that made some challenging rallying for the competitors as the roads were extremely wet and muddy.

The event saw the crews challenge seven competitive stages over a distance of 138kms.

Wors Prinsloo and Andre Vermeulen were the overall winners of the event in their Ford Ranger with a total stage time of 01:30:59 followed in second by Johan Staruss and Elzaan Venter in their Subaru with a time of 01:33:25.

The third overall podium position went to Peter Walter and Pierre Jordaan in their Cam Maverick with a time of 01:36:15.

Round 1 Group A results were Wors Prinsloo and Andre Vermeulen in first place, Johan Strauss and Elzaan Venter in second place, followed by Peter Walter and Pierre Jordaan in third place.

Group B top three were Johan de Bruin and Wally de Bruyn in first place, Chris and JP du Plessis in second place followed by Brian and Ashley Scott in third place.

Group C saw Pierre de Clercq and Mauritz Britz as group winners, followed by Markus Pretorius and Ryno Coetzer in second place and the final step on the podium went to Drian le Grange and Yvonne Theunissen.

Group D only had one entrant, namely Peter Pilusa and Kabelo Kekana.

Round 2 of the WRC Championship, namely the Lowveld Rally, will take place in the White River area on the weekend of April 1 and 2.
