Secunda’s Elri will represent SA internationally
Elri Jacobs (17) has been selected to represent South Africa at the Indoor Action Tri-Nations in Brisbane, Australia in August.
Hard work and dedication paid off for Elri Jacobs (17), who will represent South Africa at the Indoor Action Tri-Nations in August in Brisbane, Australia.
Elri was selected for the international level after playing for the Mpumalanga U19 women’s team at the inter-provincial tournament at the beginning of April.
“Representing South Africa is a huge honour,” said Elri.
Her love for netball began at the age of eight in Laerskool Goedehoop and today she continues to play netball for Hoërskool Secunda.

She obtained her first Mpumalanga provincial colours at the age of 12 and that same year her team won the All Ages South African Tournament.
She also played for the Mpumalanga provincial team every year since then, except for the two years when Covid-19 hit.
Elri was selected as one of the top 35 players in the U16 squad in South Africa at the All Ages Tournament in 2022.
She was once again selected this year to represent the Mpumalanga U17A provincial team that will take part in the Telkom Netball Championship in July in Bellville, Cape Town.

Elri was selected last year to represent the Mpumalanga U19 women’s team from Secunda Action Sports Arena which took place at the Edenvale Sports Arena.
“I practice extremely hard and give my best at every game I play. This is a huge dream of mine. You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take,” said Elri.
All tournaments are self-funded and Elri is calling on any business or people wishing to sponsor or contribute towards her expenses.
All money raised will go towards travel costs, accommodation, meals, transport, uniform and kit as well as additional necessities. For more information, contact Shantel Jacobs on 071 461 2610.
