69 participants line up for Standerton parkrun
Timothy Hoop completed the distance in an improved time of 22:24, followed by Wassie Rossouw who recorded 25:32.
Jennifer Naidoo, run director, handled the countdown on December 2 at 08:00 for 69 participants to take on the 5km at the parkrun.
Standerton River Parks hosts this free event every Saturday, offering runners, joggers and walkers the opportunity to compete against themselves.
Altogether six athletes improved their times and there were two new faces.
Timothy Hoop completed the distance in an improved time of 22:24, followed by Wassie Rossouw who recorded 25:32 and Welcome Ndlangisa at 25:47.
Parth Jayram crossed the finish line at 28:29, while Daleney Grobbelaar came in at 29:17, a new personal best.
Janke Draper recorded 30:00 in her 50th event, Zakkai Wessels 30:02, Pieter Grobbelaar 30:40, Andiswamahlubi Hadebe 31:32, Brendan Archer
31:48 in his 50th event and Jose Joseph 32:43, a new personal best.
Volunteers who ensured a safe and smooth event and Antoinette Herbst, Arizelle du Toit, Charmaine Smith, Conrie Roets, Johannes Vosloo, Krisnalalal Ramdharee, Lizette Jansen van Rensburg, Lydia Roets, Marius Kilian, Marjorie Uys, Priscilla Ramdharee, Renette de Sousa, Ruwan Vermaak, Séan Jansen van Rensburg, SJ van Niekerk, Strini Naidoo, Wessel Herbst and Zeldine Strydom took up positions on the route.
Standerton parkrun thanked Jonker Konstruksie who upgraded the old Paul Kruger Bridge that was daunting after it rained.
