Bronkhorstspruit cops warn business owners ahead of the festive time

Areas mostly affected are Church- Lanham-, Short- as well as Kruger Streets. Theft from motor vehicles in parking areas are also a great concern and motorists are urged to make sure that their vehicles are locked and that no valuables are left inside.

As part of crime awareness campaign, business owners in the Bronkhorstspruit Central Business District (CBD) are warned about an increase in crime.

“The festive season has rarely begun and already we have been experiencing an increase in certain crimes.

Crimes like shoplifting, burglaries, robberies and theft in general have picked up and more cases are being reported,” said Capt Sipho Zulu, head of social crime prevention and communication at the Bronkhorstspruit Police in a media statement released on Monday, September 13.

According to Capt Zulu, areas mostly affected are Church, Lanham, Short and Kruger Streets.

Theft from motor vehicles in parking areas are also a great concern and motorists are urged to make sure that their vehicles are locked and that no valuables are left inside.

Capt Zulu appeal to business owners, security companies and managers to stand together and assist each other in the fight against crime over the festive period.

“Let us stand together to intensify and add security around businesses. As police we also make a commitment to implement an operational plan to help prevent crimes and make the shopping experience safer for the community and business owners alike,” Capt Zulu added.
