Following a thorough investigation by a Cullinan detective, a 20-year sentence of a gender-based violence culprit was secured.

As a result of the investigation, he arrested a 29-year-old man who allegedly hit and murdered his 31-year-old girlfriend.

The incident happened after the couple had an argument at his employment compound in one of the local lodges in Cullinan in April 2019.

“The accused appeared several times before the court and was sentenced on September 10 to jail for 20 years,” Const Connie Moganedi, corporate communication officer of the Cullinan Police, said in a media statement on September 15.

“With yet another successful investigation and arrest, the Pretoria-Cullinan detectives keep the flag flying high. The Cullinan Police Station management would therefore like to thank the members involved in the handling of crime cases,” Const Moganedi said.
