Cullinan Animal Hospital is paying it forward
Dr René van Rheede van Oudtshoorn is passionate about grass root level education, teaching children from kindergarten age to Onderstepoort Veterinary and Unisa Health Technician students the art of paying it forward, living empathy on a daily basis not just toward animals, but humans alike.
The Cullinan Animal Hospital is celebrating 14 years of service to the Cullinan, Rayton, and Pretoria East regions.
According to Dr Renée van Rheede van Oudtshoorn, the team is all about giving back to their communities.
Van Rheede van Oudtshoorn is passionate about grass-root level education, teaching children from kindergarten to Onderstepoort Veterinary and Unisa Health Technician students the art of paying it forward, and living empathy daily not just toward animals, but humans alike.
Through the non-profit organisation, Community Veterinary Services Southern Africa ( CVSSA), the practice reaches communities as far as the Eastern Cape.
Cullinan Animal Hospital had an amazing outreach in Onverwacht on Saturday, September 4, when 350 animals were vaccinated against rabies. Refilwe was served on Saturday, September 11.
Animals in the Rayton area were vaccinated on September 25.
Free rabies vaccinations were available from September 27 to October 1 between 16:00 and 17:30 at the Cullinan practice. 5 in1 Vaccinations will also be on a special.
“To see communities grow into responsible pet owners through education is an amazing journey. Our work will however never end and any support will be highly appreciated,” Dr Van Rheede van Oudtshoorn told Streeknuus.
According to Dr Van Rheede van Oudtshoorn the team always go that extra mile for their animals and clients.
“Whether it is by keeping veterinary fees affordable, trying our best to keep within pet insurance limits, having 24-hour client contact via a WhatsApp line, helping where we can or by offering annual rabies campaigns with free rabies vaccinations.”
Dr Van Rheede van Oudtshoorn encouraged the public to send a Whatsapp message to find out how they can assist in keeping the hospital’s outreach going, whether through a financial donation or just by supporting the practice, they will be contributing to the fieldwork.
