Couple held at gunpoint and badly beaten during a farm attack in Zusterstroom
The attackers managed to flee the scene with the suspects’ Toyota bakkie, a gas pistol, a pellet gun, jewellery, laptop, foreign currency as well as the victim’s engagement ring. The Toyota bakkie was later recovered on the R25.
A couple were tied up with masking tape, belts and electrical cables and pillowcases were put over their faces.
On Thursday, October 21 at around 18:00, a farmer and his fiance were held at gunpoint, tied up and aggressively beaten. The incident happened on a smallholding in the Zusterstoom area near Bronkhorstspruit.
A voice note circulated on various Whatsapp security groups in and around Bronkhorstspruit. The victim shouting:
“This is Joe and Jardine from the nursery. Five to eight men have just attacked us, they tied us up and they beat us. They stole my bakkie, they stole my weapons, jewellery, our clothes, they stole everything.”
A woman could be heard screaming in agony in the background.
According to a statement released by Const Munyadziwa Ramovha, spokesperson for the Bronkhorstspruit Police, the farmer was approached by a man with a firearm. He was then ordered into the house by the suspects while one was shouting: “Shut up, I will shoot you.” Inside his fiancé desperately tried to lock the safety gate, but was overpowered by three suspects.
“The attackers were aggressive and were looking for the safe,” Const Ramovha said.
According to Ramovha, the woman was severely assaulted and sustained a 2cm cut on her right eye.
The attackers fled the scene with the victims’ Toyota bakkie, a gas pistol, a pellet gun, jewellery, laptop, foreign currency, as well as the victim’s engagement ring.
The Toyota bakkie was later recovered on the R25.
No arrests have been made by the time of going to print.
“The Bronkhorstspruit Police are currently looking for eight unknown suspects,” Const Ramovha said.

Mr Victor was released from hospital and is recovering from serious head wounds he sustained after he was severely beaten with knobkieries.
