Children go to the movies

The children never experienced the cinema nor the mall.

SECUNDA – Children from the Abasizikazi Home Based Care Centre in eMbalenhle got to experience the cinema for the first time in their lives last week.

Pick n Pay Secunda Mall and Pick n Pay eMbalenhle joined hands with Ster Kinekor to give children who have never been to a cinema, the chance to experience the big screen.

The children were treated to the movie “Mr Peabody and Sherman” and each child received pop corn and juice to make their experience complete.

Afterwards, the children were taken around the mall and had the chance to go up and down the escalators.

Ms Michelle van den Berg, CSM of Pick n Pay Secunda, said: “These children have never experienced a mall or cinema in their life and going down an escalator was a new experience for them as well. “The expressions on their faces were priceless and it looked like they enjoyed it.”

The children were given refreshments and healthy treats which they took back home.
