Andile wants to be a star
eMbalenhle singer makes it to last top six of reality television show.
eMBALENHLE – Andile Mercy Vilane (23) is a gospel singer who says she never used her unfortunate background to get what she wants in life.
“I am a hard worker and go for what I want.”
She has made it to the last top six contestants in the reality television show, I Want to Sing Gospel, that is broadcast on SABC at 7.30pm every Thursday.
The show searches for the next gospel star in South Africa.
Andile was among those who won the auditions that were held in various regions of the country.
“I believe I have a unique voice and would bring something fresh to the music industry.
“I am a woman of prayer and with my music I am going to heal sick people.
“This is a calling and it is my time and I am the answer to the world.
“I am God-sent with my music and my voice and the world shall change into a better place because of me.”
Andile’s parents died when she was young and she was raised by her grandmother.
She began signing choral music at the age of 15 and her teachers believed she had a talent for singing.
“I did not believe it at first, but I carried on singing just for the fun of it and people said I have a nice voice,” said Andile.
Ms Portia Malefu Lekoro, a church member, encouraged her to work hard.
“She pushed me to enter the gospel competition,” said Andile.
She has already shared the stage with Soil and Solly Mahlangu.
