The Standerton Music Festival and Expo was launched on 16 May.

According to Mr Sizwe Dlamini, one of the organisers, it will directly benefit the Standerton economy and also create 1 200 job and business opportunities.
The event will begin with a pre-party, followed by a music festival and sport day where four different sporting codes will participate including soccer, netball, rugby and women’s soccer.
The winners of each sporting code will win a trophy and prize money.
Mr Dlamini urged business men and women to contribute to this initiative so as to make it bigger.
“We want to make this festival an annual event and also involve more sporting codes for the mayoral cup,” he said.
The countdown for the occasion will begin in June. Mr Dlamini requested the community to promote this event and announced that the first Mpumalanga Sport Awards will be held in town.
