Glen Carlou wine tasting at Graceland superb
To make a career in wine tasting, you need a specific nose and palate.
SECUNDA – The wine tasting that took place at Graceland on Friday, 27 March was well presented and informative.
It was presented by Mr Pieter Swanepoel, the general sales manager of Glen Carlou.
Glen Carlou celebrated its 25th vintage in 2012 and Mr Swanepoel said they are proud to have built a reputation as one of South Africa’s leading wine producers.
Billy Brandt entertained the guests with his African music that included the song “Pata Pata”.
He was born and bred in Cape Town and speaks Zulu and Swazi fluently.
He worked at the Swazi Royal Sun for 23 years and that was where his love for speaking African languages grew.
Brandt’s aim is to reach as many people as possible through his music.
Mr Geoff Carter, a member of the Goblet Guild, was acknowledged for having supported wine tasting for a very long time.
“I began to support wine tasting in around 1996,” said Mr Carter.
He was exposed to different wine tasting and styles which he would not have been able to do if he was not a member.
He further said that to make a career in wine tasting, you need a specific nose and palate.
