Toy to release new album
Mafetion is multitalented and well known for Isbhujwa dance.
KINROSS – Multitalented Toy Mafetion is well known in eKasi for his album Mtrazan.
His real name is Thokozani Mahlangu and he began singing house music in 2013 after he had spent some time being a DJ for Black Disaster Entertainment.
“I realised I could mix the bits and sing during my time as a DJ,” said Toy who also used to perform at Robert Bar Lounge.
Toy grew up being active in the community and played soccer as a striker for West United in eMbalenhle.
He was also a Sbhujwa, a dancer, for the group Yoguetter from eMbalenhle.
People gave him the name of Toy Mafetion because they said he used to dance like a toy and Mafetion was because he is a fashionista and a fashion designer.
Toy Mafetion said he has gigs in the pipeline in around July, when he will also be launching his new album, Mtwana u’muntu uthandiwe, which is dedicated to the mother of his child.
Toy still loves fashion and said he cannot afford to miss the Durban July where fashion designers showcase their talents.
During the week, Toy is working at Sikhulakancane Multipurpose Centre where they help the youth with career guidance and also teach basic computer programs such as typing and how to use the Internet.
He also holds a certificate of attendance for a beginners course by the National Youth Development Agency.
