Lawrence is passionate about art

Local painter needs help to improve his talent and establish a business.

LEBOHANG – Mr Lawrance Mathebula, an artist, hopes his work will go international one day.

He draws lifelike and accurate portraits and believes that one day millions of copies of his art work will sell countrywide and even abroad.

He was born and raised in Lebohang and began painting in 1999.

One of the local professional artists took a particular interest in him and later accompanied him on drawing excursions and entered his work in art competitions.

“ I used to love colouring and drawing cartoons and realised that drawing wa my calling and I gave it more attention.”

Mr Mathebula often draws portraits of celebrities and close friends in his private sketchbook.

He said he often can not afford a pencil, let alone brushes or paint.

However he said he will not stop dreaming and will use the little he has.

“I am driven by the motto that says you must do the best that you can and never stop.”
