eMBALENHLE – Plus Divas hosted their first fashion show aimed at empowering plus sized women.

Ms Gugu Guzana Zulu said they wanted to show that it is possible to look sexy at any size.

The event took place on Saturday, 10 September and was well attended by fashion designers, models and other well known personalities, including DJ Buhle who kept the audience on their feet with her music.

The women were dressed by Milady’s and showcased different dresses and the swimsuits meant to fit and make plus size women feel confident wearing them.

Ms Zinhle Cronje also sponsored five traditional dresses.

Nonkululeko Maseko showcased some of her Plus Size brand T-shirts.

During the closure of the event, Ms Gugu Zulu said they were also launching the #GirlChildFeelGood Campaign with the goal of providing young women at various schools with sanitary pads and toiletries.

“We want girls to still go to school even when it is that time of the month,” said Ms Zulu.

She asked that those who would like to join hands by donating sanitary pads and toiletries, to drop them at the Secunda Police Station or contact her to find out about other available dropping venues.

She can be contacted at 072 943 9473 or visit the Plus Divas Facebook page.
