Ixhoba Mixtape hits the airwaves
Cikozayo R Tee pays tribute to his late mother.
eMBALENHLE – Cikozayo R Tee’s long awaited Mixtape finally arrived.
He began working on this tape since the end of 2015. It was set to drop in October 2016, but according to Cikozayo, the tape was just not ready.
He went back to the studio to rework most songs since he wanted to express more about his personal life struggles.
He said another reason it took so long, is because it is too close to his heart as it reflects his life.
In 2011 Cikozayo lost his mother and four years later he was still battling to get closure.
He tried to feed his soul with positive thoughts and wrote a tribute song, Mama Wam, on which he worked with Ras Prince.
“I’m the kind of a person who is inspired by what’s going on in my life and within the society I live in.
“Ixhoba Mixtape has 10 songs including My Hood that’s been getting air play on a couple of community radios. It is a song that talks about how unsafe my neighbourhood is.”
Ras Prince,S hady Shades and Essence Earthkwake feature on the tape.
He produced most of the songs and also got help from Banana (Thuto Mahlangu) who helped with three hard hitting beats.
Most work on Ixhoba Mixtape such as recording and artworks, was done at BrainStorm Multimedia Pty Ltd and was mixed and mastered by Themba Mdhluli.
“I feel as if Mixtape just gave a meaning to my life again. I thank everyone who still believe in what I do.”
