Mpumalanga Choral Music Association hosts choral extravaganza in Ermelo

Choirs from the province travelled to Ermelo to perform.

The Mpumalanga Choral Music Association hosted a choral extravaganza on Saturday, 21 July in Ermelo.

According to Mr Zweli Mdakane, they selected Ermelo to host the event because Ermelo Hoërskool has the best facilities for such an event.

The event was funded by the National Lotteries Commission.

Choral choirs from around the province travelled to Ermelo to perform at the extravaganza.

Die Ventertjies light up Ermelo Hoërskool’s music auditorium with Afrikaans music.

“We had choirs from Vaalbank-Siyabuwa, Mkhuhlu Bushbuckridge, Mbombela (Nelspruit), Mkhondo (Piet Retief), Bethal, Standerton and Fernie that performed.”

The event was held to promote culture and heritage and also to promote social cohesion.

“We want to create a platform for the unknown artists, but also to celebrate the centenary of Nelson Mandela and Albertina Sisulu,” Mr Mdakane added.

The group also distributed food parcels to kids in need.

Choirs from all over the province traveled to Ermelo to perform at the Choral Extravaganza event.
