Steamers convention will put steam into events at Duck Pond
The will be quite a few interesting exhibits - from train sets to explanations of how steam can be applied
SECUNDA – The Duck Pond at Secunda will be steaming with miniature locomotives, exhibits and family fun on 27 and 28 October.
The National Steamers Convention will lure steam locomotive enthusiasts from all over South Africa to Secunda Duck Pond.
Visitors can expect to see at least 20 miniature locomotives doing their rounds on the track around the dam from early morning until late afternoon.
“There will be quite a few interesting exhibits – from train sets to explanations of how steam can be applied,” said Mr Frans Pretorius, chairman of the Secunda Steamers.
The Secunda team is working diligently to get the Duck Pond and the track in tip-top condition before the convention. This includes erecting new boarding places, notice boards and repainting of equipment.
Mr Pretorius said on the days of the convention, several food stalls will also be available and the whole family can enjoy this event.
