Buchanan Marais is the founder of La Africa Opera Company.

He plays orchestral flute, pan flute, and harmonica.

Buchanan studied music at Wits University and was a student of Amos Eisenberg and Leslie Sheils with flute as first instrument.

After leaving Wits, Buchanan embarked on a performing and recording career, first as a soloist and later as an orchestra leader up to 2012.

From 2012 Buchanan took a break from performing and formed the Ictus Entertainment Agency, booking artists and coordinating events throughout South Africa and internationally.

The return of Buchanan to the stage in 2017 has culminated in the formation of La Africa. He realised that the voices that South Africa produces are astounding and need to be heard, and he has made it his mission to source and groom the finest vocal talent so that the world may hear its beauty.

La Africa musicians and singers are always rehearsed to perfection and the dress code adhered to by all members, is strictly upmarket and chic.

The organist, Danie Senekal will lead the congregation in singing familiar Christmas carols at the beginning and at certain parts of the performance.

This will begin at about 6.15pm.

The carols service is open to anyone and entry is free of charge.

The doors open at 6pm.
